Coaly was one of the evacuees that was evacuated on board the White Base. When several of the evacuees asked to leave the White Base after they passed the Grand Canyon, he and his mother chose to leave as well. But Persia decided not to travel with the rest of the evacuees, since her town was not far from their current location, however she later discovers that St Anges had been destroyed during the war, unfortunately due to Coaly's youth he is unable to truly fathom his mothers emotional distress upon hearing of the destruction of her home town.
