Lex is a foreigner who teaches English at Satoyama High School. He is obsessed with the Edo period and is disappointed that Japan doesn't match his expectations, like everyone still following <i><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushido" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">bushido</a></i> and wearing topknots. After losing to Sumire in several battles, Lex comes to respect her "samurai ethics". He eventually falls in love with Reiko, but is desperate when she seems to develop a crush for the Old Man instead.
